Pumpkin spice latte at home

GDI - pumpkin spice latte DIY

Two falls ago I began a coffee club which has basically morphed into a bunch of friends hanging out semi-regularly, often with coffee. I sent out a text offering to host coffee this morning and asking if everyone would mind being my pumpkin spice latte guinea pigs? They said yes ;) and today I tidied up the house & then whisked around making these.

I looked over several recipes online, but this is the one I followed the most closely. I did change it a bit though because I seem biologically predisposed to going off-script.

Jumping from that recipe, here's what I did.

I brewed a four cup pot of espresso (which is really something like 8 ounces) & put to the side.

I then put three cups of whole milk into a saucepan and added:

2 TBS of canned pumpkin

1/3 cup of sugar

1/2 - 1 tsp pumpkin pie spices (or a combination of ginger, cinnamon & cloves)

I let the sugar dissolve & the mixture get very hot, but not boiling. I took the milk mixture off of the heat, added the espresso & topped each cup with a dollop of fresh whipped cream (I chose not to sweeten the cream, but you could if you'd like).

They turned out to be delicious and taste like a coffee infused with just a bit of spice, sugar & pumpkin.

Let me know if you've tried this recipe & how yours turned out :)
