Friday tidbits
What are you guys doing this weekend? Did you, in college, ask your friends, "what're you getting into this weekend?" I love(d) that expression because, yes, getting into.
Anyway, we're going out for breakfast tomorrow morning and Truett has a birthday party up at the park :) I'd also really like to get the kid's memory boxes bought & organized. Which reminds me, we got June's necklace (her first birthday gift) and it is beautiful (the pictures online don't do it justice). I would highly recommend this etsy designer. (This initial ring is also so pretty).
Let's do links, beginning with...Super Bowl commercials. What was your favorite? Here's a critic's list from people.com.
Try this recipe for basic sauteed chicken. I'm embarassed to admit, but I don't think I'd ever properly sauteed a chicken before trying this out. Absolutely delicious + simple.
I thought this was such a funny pinterest picture. I'm kind of a bed hog.
Oh, also on pinterest, I started this Summertime board. Doesn't it get you excited for warm weather?
Did you hear about Richard III's grave being confirmed, under a parking lot? Fascinating. I love spooky, true life stories.
Alabama Shakes, Always Alright.
Five Surprising Facts About Birthing Centers. (Do you guys watch The Mindy Project? I always find myself nodding in agreement with "The Midwives" from upstairs, haha).
Speaking of old bones, Wednesday would have been Mary Leakey's 100th birthday.
I'm trying a recipe this weekend that calls for black truffles. I'm substituting truffle oil, but if we were to splurge on some real truffles, this recipe for Truffle Fettuccine sounds so good.
Could you describe your love life in six words? I've been ruminating all morning but haven't come up with one I like! Two marriages. The wrong one died. (Chills).
I'm slowly trying to curate a perfect home-bar. I'd love to add bitters to it, but don't know where to begin. Any suggestions for commonly used bitters? I'm not looking for exotic, but the salt & pepper of the bitter world :)
That's it! Have a great weekend and check out the gdi facebook page if you're looking for more pictures from our life!

Pretty sure John's head would explode if I told him I ordered 1 oz of truffles for $120!! I like your oil substitution idea much better.

WHOA Jen! I hadn't looked up prices but I knew it was pricey. Bud's head would explode MIGHT be an understatement. Also - meant to tell you - I TOTALLY flubbed up an internet recipe this morning and was like, damnit it looked easy online. Haha.
