Parenting tip - books in a different language
I wish I could claim credit for this amazingly simple-but-brilliant idea, but it was all my girlfriend Miriam's doing. For Christmas she sent Truett a sweet kid's book in French.
A gigantic lightbulb went off over my head - of course! I could read to the kids in a different language. I went to an international school when I was little, and although I've lost most of my French, I love the opportunity to read it to Truett (and soon June, too). It was crazy, the first time I read it to him I started having these flash backs to some of my earliest teachers and I had a major hankering to travel to France. Which, ahem, isn't going to happen anytime soon, but it was so fun to read True this book and travel back in time :)
The book she sent is called, Je T'Aimerai Toujours Quoi Qu'il Arrive. It translates to, "I will always love you, no matter what happens." It's all about a little fox who is in a terrible mood, and his mother keeps explaining to him that she will love him no matter what.
You can find the book on amazon here. Don't you love it? I'm going to keep up the tradition and buy the kids a book every Christmas in French :)

Hope - check out duolingo.com if you want a refresher for your Français. It's fun and you can put however much time or effort into it as your schedule permits.
