Goodie, goodie, I'm glad you asked Georgia!
I forgot to mention the most important part of yesterday's post. The reason we chose to build the frames (other than as a pure exercise in learning to be patient - whoops! Failed there!) is because at a hobby store, frames that size cost around $30 each.
Our costs:
Fabric: about $4 at Wal-Mart.
Frames: 1X2 at home improvement store for a song - $2-ish?
Tacks: $.97 each box - we bought 2.
Primer: we had leftover in basement but white spray paint would work also, about $5 a can? I'm guesstimating here.
Paint: $2 a bottle at Wal-Mart.
We used paintbrushes we already had, but again $2 apiece or so.
For us, the entire project cost $12 because we already had some of the materials in Bud's shop. That's $6 a frame. If you were starting from scratch you could do everything for about $25, which is $12.50 a frame. And lots of cursing, but you already knew that.
Also! I mixed black and white paint together to achieve the gray, that way I had four colors for the price of three. SHEESH I am good at this home economics thing!
i love to see my name in print...le sigh.
thanks, good to know, nice and cheap, and theoretically you could also purchase thicker fabric to avoid the necessity of the primer.
