On the way back from our short trip, Bud and I stopped at Ikea and purchased our new highchair. I realize this is only interesting to those who have a baby(s) or are about to have a baby, but sharing parenting product information is like sugar-laced crack amongst the mothers out there so I am SHARING THE LOVE. Or crack pipe or whatever drug reference makes sense.
We (or I, who am I kidding) originally registered for a very pretty, wooden, EDDIE BAUER edition high chair. But like so many things I have mulled over obsessively, I decided it just was not what I wanted. I do not want a high chair that eats my kitchen and this one from Ikea is so little and portable and sweet. It does not have a tray and if our baby is particularly...chunky, when he or she begins the solid-foods portion of her life then I may reconsider. It is small. But it folds! And pulls up to the table so that I can feel like I'm eating WITH my child, not hollering across the kitchen, "THREE MORE BITES AND YOU CAN GET DOWN," Also, this way we can introduce red wine and cheese to him earlier. The finer things in life.
Is that safety tested? I would like to review that data before I would approve of Cider going in there. Maci was a particulary jumpy child and although I did see that it has a seatbelt, I wonder just how secure it is. Have you set it up and tested it? :)

Good job! I too liked the Eddie Bauer high chair but nixed it when Baby Bargains gave it a D rating. I'm still on the look out for the perfect high chair. I may actually end up getting this one. The changing table version of this chair is what my parents are getting for their home, I'll have to suggest this as well. Perfect, why? Because they fold and can be put away.

I had the same desire to find a high chair that didn't eat up my kitchen, as our kitchen is small. I found this one thanks to another mom friend, and it's great because the baby sits right at the table with you. Ethan has been joining us for meals for months, and he has not started solids yet. Plus, I put him there all the time when I am in the kitchen as a safe place for him to sit while I'm cooking or unloading the dishwasher or running around the house. ;) SO...if for some reason your does not work without the tray, this is the one we have: http://www.fisher-price.com/fp.aspx?st=2002&e=product&pid=35236
