Tomorrow we leave for North Carolina where we will meet up with the rest of my ever growing family and spend the week. We lucked out with some over-booking mess and have ended up with an entire bed and breakfast as our vacation home, with a bonus cabin nearby. I am so heading off to the bonus cabin and sleeping for fourteen hours a day if I am able. Probably I will not be able because every time I lie down to sleep my belly's all STILL HERE AND JUST TRY TO FLIP OVER. I dare you. It can be an ass like that.
These trips always begin with the best of intentions with plans to sleep, eat, maybe see a site or two and then repeat. They generally turn into one giant game of Just Who Will Cry First. I know my mother will read that and probably get her feelings hurt so I'll add that no, truly, they are a lot of fun, but if there is ever a situation that can make me run into a room, slam the door, throw myself on the bed and begin to wail like a 12 year old girl who's crush has TOTALLY danced with someone else at the 6th grade dance, IT IS MY FAMILY. Someone's buttons will get pushed, or make that everyone's buttons will get pushed at some point and then we will somehow come away from it wondering how the hell we acted like that in our late 20's and 30's? DUDE. FAMILY. Major regression.
I asked Bud the other night if he was excited for the trip and he said yes, he was. Excited for one whole week of relaxation? He just looked at me.
"throw myself on the bed and begin to wail like a 12 year old girl who's crush has TOTALLY danced with someone else at the 6th grade dance"
...to "End of the Road" no doubt. ;-)

ALL families push buttons. I guess at some point we should all decide to ACT LIKE ADULTS?! That is, not indulge in the frisson from getting on someone's last nerve. Why not try something new?
Hey, jk. I guess then we wouldn't be family.

Your mother is correct. Just got back from my parents house where my dad and husband pushed my buttons all weekend long. I'm exhausted. It means they love you!
So you have the ENTIRE B&B? That sounds like summer camp, how fun! And hey, if the fun drunks keep you up too late at night, just wake up early and start making a lot of noise for them!
