Daiquiri Express

In Texas there are daiquiri drive-throughs. Yes...there are. And I don't live here. But I do have pictures that I will post when I finally get home to my little white cord that allows me to download pictures. Today we drove through one and I got a creamsicle, Bud got a pina colada. When you get your order it is in a paper bag, styrofoam cup and, thank goodness, has a piece of scotch tape over the top. That is to stop people from opening the cup in the car and drinking and driving. We usually go home and use a jackhammer to remove the tape then sit down and enjoy our drinks on the couch before waiting several hours to drive. Ah yes, a drive through adult beverage store.

These boots...

For my Christmas present Bud bought me cowboy boots. Which I sorely needed. So for the day before Christmas and most of yesterday, I went to at least 4 different stores trying on every style that even remotely spoke to me from the shelf. There was a pair of Luchesses I wanted badly but they were $250 and even I found the price tag hard to swallow. What I finally decided on was a dark red pair of Nacona's that are tighter than any other boot or shoe I have ever crammed my slightly-larger-than-I'd-like feet into. I don't think I have boat feet - even though Bud's dad yesterday asked me what size I needed, "a thirteen?" - but I do not either have a dainty Cinderella foot. Somewhere between Drizella and Cinderella I guess. Maybe I could be one of the didn't-work-out girlfriend's leading up to his fairytale meeting and wedding to Cinderella. Moving on. I got them small because my old boots have stretched out to a less than sexy size and I'd like these to make me look more like a cute cowgirl and less like a Sasquatch. When we get back I'll post pictures of both so you can a. see how cute my news one are and b. see what I'm talking about with my old (but oh so comfortable) ones.

New Traditions

We blast actual records on Christmas morning. James Taylor sings Merry Christmas to his guardian angel. Hm, I like that. Opening gifts is more laid back, no McClure's screaming, "mom is opening her gift would you PLEASE WATCH?!" That I maybe miss a little.

I've been to Christmas Eve church services before. Something about church always puts me within a hair of crying, or I just end up crying. I know a lot of people cry in church but it's because they "feel the spirit". I don't know why I cry. Bonnie sat next to me and when I could feel the tears streaming down her face I said a silent but desperate prayer to my grandmother, "Granny, I am hanging on by an emotional thread here, PLEASE don't make me cry," Somehow I didn't.

The food is similar but if possible fuller of cheese and butter. Oh yes, that I like. And Christmas night is predictably boring. I think that might be an all-over-the-world tradition.

"Georgia, is it ok if my departing flight leaves at 9 AM?"

"Uh, yeah, but you do realize we have to leave the house 2 hours earlier..."

"No, I can't stand that, getting to the airport WAY early just because you're so nervous of air travel,"

"Fine, I don't care if you miss your flight, what time would you want to leave then?"

"7 AM...MOTHER******! (maniacal laugh)"

"HOPE YOU ARE ON SPEAKER PHONE AT MY OFFICE!!"
